Kristy CameronWatch a slideshow of the 60+ bands (we’ve lost count) playing REVERB Festival on Saturday, Oct. 3 in Ballard. To accompany today’s massive blowout on Seattle Weekly’s REVERB Festival — the best local music shindig of the year — we’ve rounded up a track from each of the 60+ acts scheduled to perform on Saturday. Most of the tracks — The Maldives’ “Blood Relations” and Kaylee Cole’s “Uncertain World,” for example — are full songs. Some of them are 30- to 45-second samples. But ALL the tracks include our special-section writeup of the band, as well as the time and venue of the band’s REVERB performance. (For everything REVERB, check out SeattleWeekly.com/reverbfestival.)DOWNLOAD MP3s: The REVERB Class of 2009So sit back, download, and enjoy listening to what Seattle music sounds like in 2009. Here are some awesome instructions for how to maximize your experience with these mp3s.After you download the tracks (took me about five minutes, FYI), drag all the tracks into iTunes (if you have it, though these mp3s will work on virtually any player). Once they’re in iTunes, you’ll notice the mp3s are arranged into several categories. The easiest way to find them all is to look for the REVERB 09 genre. This is an easy way to shuffle through every act. The fun begins when you move the tracks to your iPod/iTouch/iPhone.It’s kind of like a choose-your-own-adventure novel. Once you’ve added the mp3s to your player, check out the REVERB 09 genre. (pictures here are for an iPhone, but these instructions transfer to iTouch/iPod, etc.) You’re looking at all the bands playing REVERB. Click the one you want to hear. Now you’re listening to the track. Now, tap the screen (or, with iPods, tap through on the button thingy), and you’re reading about the band. The venue and set time are at the bottom of the writeup. Not bad, eh? You can try this a different way, too. Say you want to see who’s playing at the Sunset. Look under albums and find REVERB 09: Sunset.Click It. Now you’re looking at everyone playing at the Sunset.I think that’s all. Let me know if there are any problems. And be sure to download these tracks NOW! They’ll only be available this easily for two weeks. After that, well, it’ll just take a few more clicks. We’ll let you know when we get there.
