When I attended a Tacoma Rainiers game on July 11, the Mariners’ AAA farm team was locked in a duel with visiting Portland to see who would escape the cellar of the Pacific Coast League’s North Divions. Now, after one of the most memorable late-season rallies in PCL history, the Rainiers are in the playoffs, where they’ll host Sacramento beginning Wednesday at Cheney Stadium. For Mariner fans in need of a postseason fix, it ain’t all that far a drive.
