The media world seems to be all abuzz today. On the tech

The media world seems to be all abuzz today. On the tech side, folks are talking about the sale of Seattle-based digital music servicing company iLike to MySpace today for a reported $20 million. Whether that’s a cheap price or not is being debated around the country. In news slightly more tangible for many of us, news also broke on the web today that Sound magazine and City Arts magazine are merging into one publication. The first combined issue is set to come out in October. For awhile, rumors were circulating that Sound was in danger of folding. The Seattle-based music magazine is often met with mixed reviews (like all publications) with some folks hoping it would go away, and others wanting to support it. I’m personally in the latter category. Sure it’s competition, but I don’t like watching any magazine go out of business. City Arts has never done a lot for me based on editorial content, but maybe with the two publications merging, that may change. Although it’s also worth speculating if this is a true merger or more of an acquisition with City Arts coming out on top. Time will tell.
