You wouldn’t know it from his record (10-9), but beloved former Mariner

You wouldn’t know it from his record (10-9), but beloved former Mariner lefty Jamie Moyer has had one of the least effective years of his career. That’s understandable; he’s 46. But the odds of him taking the mound in his 47th year took a turn for the worse today, with the Phillies announcement that he’s being replaced in the starting rotation by Pedro Martinez. If Moyer is cut loose at season’s end and wants to embark upon a farewell tour, seems as though the M’s could do far worse than tender him a non-guaranteed deal to see if he can end up being 2010’s version of Ken Griffey Jr. At least we know that, even at his advanced age, he’s good for more innings than Erik Bedard.
