The last time Buffalo-hailing songwriter/ feminist icon Ani DiFranco was here was April 2008. In news that’s sure to please her countless diehard fans, she’s returning to the Moore Theatre once again on Saturday, October 24. I spent my high school lunch breaks hiding behind the bowling alley to smoke cigarettes because, A) I hated everyone, and B) I wanted to lose 15 pounds. My choice soundtrack for wallowing in self-pity was, of course, that of DiFranco. (My unofficial anthem: “Not a Pretty Girl.”) But that was back in the ’90s. Since then, I’ve learned to hate selectively and lay off the pasta. And DiFranco’s grown out her shaved ‘do and embraced motherhood. She’s not the radical she used to be–but, hey, neither are the fans. But her righteous babe music sure did help us survive adolescence.
