Rawstock

New York comedian Mitch Magee (Mr. Glasses) will be in attendance for this evening of ten short films. Three episodes of his Welcome to My Study series portray a guy of meek, shy psychosis rummaging through his office desk to offer us up its sad, random contents. “I’m lonely and I collect things,” he says plaintively. The effect is a little bit like Mr. Rogers on Haldol, insanity wrapped in a cardigan sweater. Animation is particularly strong tonight, with the well-rendered anime-style Red Princess Blues (apparently an excerpt from a feature-in-progress) and One Rat Short (previously seen at Rawstock), which surely got director Alex Weil a job at Pixar. And for action fans, the Australian Lucy plays like the ingenious opening scene for a crime flick we’d definitely like to see. Magee will conduct a pre-show Q&A. Ages 21 and over. (NR) BRIAN MILLER
