Oasis

OK, Oasis’ assertion during the ’90s that it was “the best band in the world” was a bit of an exaggeration. Probably. Maybe they were kidding. Given the reputation of brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, perhaps they were drunk. Or maybe Oasis’ pre-iPod reign was just too short-lived to justify the claim. After all, several of the band’s albums jumped to the top of the charts, selling in total more than 50 million copies worldwide. (Again, before downloading.) But when and where did it all go wrong? Like many great things that were popular in the ’90s (Old Navy vests, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Oasis flamed out like a champagne supernova upon the arrival of the 21st century. But the band has ridden the success of its 2005 comeback album Don’t Believe the Truth all the way to Seattle, home to another washed-up ’90s hallmark: grunge. Oasis may be on its way to rock-’n’-roll stardom again, with Dig Out Your Soul due in October. WaMu Theater, 800 Occidental Ave. S., www.wamutheater.com. $37–$67. 7 p.m. JOSHUA LYNCH
