Booker Colin Johnson’s departure from Chop Suey this June was sudden, but his talents were just as quickly snatched up by Fremont nightspot Nectar. Tonight’s the club’s three-year anniversary, featuring Johnson’s adventurous lineup of the Helio Sequence, Lifesavas, and Truckasaurus. “The idea is to show the public a little insight as to what will come [musically] for Nectar in the near future,” says Johnson. “Specifically, I’m highlighting upbeat artists from the indie/electronic, organic hip-hop, and glitch-hop genres.” Bring it on! We all need a reason to get off the Hill now and then.
