Featuring an outdoor patio with views of the Sound, Frolik Kitchen + Cocktails is moving into fifth floor digs at the former Terrace Garden restaurant space at the Red Lion Hotel. Frolik seems to be banking on a bustling happy hour: The eatery at 1415 5th Ave. will include shuffleboard and ping-pong and hired an employee possessing the job title, "Director of Fun." Serving riffs on classic American fare, Frolik will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Look for a mid-to-late April opening.
In other news, Ballardites can relax: Garden Sushi is now officially open at its new location at the intersection of 17th Ave NW and Barnes Ave. NW. Seattle's first sushi truck temporarily shuttered last month after the Shell station where it was parked on 15th Ave. NW closed.
Owner Tsering Lama has been preparing sushi professionally for more than a decade, starting his career in New York and New Jersey and working his way across the states before setting up shop in Seattle. The fact that his popular truck can now be found in a nook right across from the Swedish Ballard Childbirth Center is a godsend for brand new mothers craving raw fish after nine months without. Garden Sushi is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. To save time you can call in orders ahead of time at 206-495-3099.
