Filling a space left behind by the defunct Seattle Cheese Festival, the locally-focused Washington Artisan Cheesemakers Festival will now be held in the autumn. Organizers have announced plans to present the event every October during American Cheese Month. It debuted last spring.
This year, more than 20 Washington-based cheese producers will be on hand at the Seattle Design Center at 5701 6th Avenue S. in Georgetown. In addition to a tasting, local purveyors of specialty edibles and imbibables, including chutney, honey, beer and cider will in attendance. More details and ticket info are over here.
Also, starting Monday, March 25, Golden Beetle at 1744 NW Market St. in Ballard is featuring a $40 five-course Passover meal created by chef Ariel Fishman-Larsh. The special menu tells the story of the Seder and will be available through April 7. Note that food will not be prepared in a kosher kitchen. Reservations can be made online.
