A large percentage of area retirees let out a collective groan when Romano's Macaroni Grill at Northgate Mall closed last year. Now, Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar is moving into the former Macaroni space at 401 NE Northgate Way. Although this is the restaurant's first foray in Seattle, several Twigs locations can be found east of the Cascades, with four Twigs operating in Spokane proper. In addition to three dozen martini concoctions and a lot of meat and potatoes, the Washington-based chain offers a pretty extensive gluten-free menu. A launch date has yet to be announced, but a job fair is planned from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. February 17 at the forthcoming Northgate location.

In other news, Porchlight Coffee and Records is moving into the former Rock Paper Scissors space a stone's throw from its original location. Porchlight will serve the first latte at its new digs at 1318 E Pike St. this week. CHS reports that a seven-story building will be constructed at Porchlight's former 14th Ave. location, hence the move around the corner. Check Porchlight's Facebook page for opening day details.
