Voracious' Neighborhood Snackdown, which crowned a winner back in November, may be a hazy memory to folks living in runner-up 'hoods, but the party hasn't stopped in Bainbridge, Vashon and Bremerton, which banded together to claim tournament victory. And the festivities are scheduled to climax next month with a celebratory shindig at Bainbridge's Pegasus Coffeehouse.
Organized in conjunction with the popular First Fridays Art Walk, the Mar. 1 gathering will feature free food and drink samples from local purveyors who helped lock up the win, including Pegasus Coffee House, Baywater Shellfish Farms, Bainbridge Organic Distillers and Bainbridge Island Brewing Company. Pegasus' owner, Jeff Waite, is also contemplating "slow-roast(ing) some kind of whole animal," according to the Weekly's marketing director. Keep an eye on Voracious for critical protein updates.
In addition to the camaraderie and snacks, event-goers will also have a chance to spin the Weekly's prize wheel and pick up pretzel necklaces.
The Snackdown party runs from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Pegasus, 131 Parfitt Way Southwest. See you on the boat!
