The International Association of Culinary Professionals just announced food writing finalists for this year's awards. Jess Thomson earned a nomination in the Culinary Travel category for her Sasquatch Books title, Pike Place Market Recipes: 130 Delicious Ways to Bring Home Seattle's Famous Market.

An Edible Seattle piece by Hanna Neuschwander garnered a nod in the Writing About Beverages category for, "The Coffee in Your Cup." She's joined by former Seattle Weekly editor Mike Seely who wrote last year's cover story, "Murray Stenson's Accidental Tourists." Modernist Cuisine at Home is nominated in the Food and Beverage Reference/Technical category. The award winners will be announced April 9 in San Francisco. See the full list here.

In other news, fresh pasta, Polpette meatballs and homemade Italian sweets are headed for Belltown. Eater reports that Bellini will open in a former flower shop next to Endless Knot at 2303 1st Ave. in early March. The interior will feature reclaimed wooden planks sourced from a beach and vintage fixtures.
