Pancakes-on-a-stick for brekky, lunch and dinner are on the menu at new retro-themed food trailer My Sweet Little Cakes. Proprietors Jesse and Sheena Lee will be dressing the part by embracing "soda-jerk" personas behind the counter. Starting this week, the pair will offer portable snacks made with scratch batter and stuffed with sweet and savory ingredients, including beer and hickory smoked bacon and blueberry lemon ricotta. Vegan and gluten-free options will be available, too. Look for the tangerine-hued truck at 1208 Pine St. starting this Valentine's Day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Since we're talking cakes, Autumn Martin is offering new "Valentine's To-Go" kits at her Ballard dessert shop Hot Cakes at 5427 Ballard Ave. from now till Thursday. The pack features a pair of Dark Decadence Molten Chocolate Cakes, a pint of vanilla ice cream from Bluebird, and a jar of just-released Dangerously Dark Hot Fudge Sauce for $25. In other Valentine's news, Theo Chocolate at 3400 Phinney Ave. N. is holding a cheese and chocolate pairing tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. Staff will give tutorials explaining how to build well-matched dessert plates for V-day dinners.
