Last November, the Everett Ivar's Seafood Bar at 1520 41st St. removed several pieces of vintage art for refurbishing while completing interior renovations, including a historical photograph of once presidential hopeful Senator Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson holding Ivar Haglund's "clam stamps." After several patrons inquired about the missing image, this morning at 10:15 a.m. Ivar's is ready to reveal and re-hang the restored photo. Senator Jackson's son Peter will be in attendance to talk about his father's work in the community and friendship with Ivar Haglund. Free treats will be handed out at the event. If you can't make it up north in time, free Clam Snackers are on the menu with entree purchase from now until Sunday.
In other news, adding to downtown, University District, and Northgate Mall locations, Chipotle opens tomorrow in Capitol Hill at 1415 Broadway Ave. The national chain uses antibiotic free meat and serves veggies that are grown within 350 miles of each restaurant. Bloat alert: that steak burrito may not contain antibiotics, but it is packed with more than a day's dose of sodium. You might want to hold the chips.
