Here's your cheat sheet for this month's Seattle-area bar and restaurant openings and closings.

AMERICAN FARE

Harry's Chicken Joint is set to open in the beginning of March in the former Meander's location at 6032 California Ave. SW. Get ready for bird that's been brined in buttermilk, smoked on apple wood, and fried in an iron skillet.

Pancakes-on-a-stick food trailer My Sweet Lil Cakes opened earlier this month. The roving sweet and savory snack mobile has settled into a space at 1208 Pine St. The owners also plan to park near the Neptune Theatre in the future--check their calendar for location details.

Spokane-based chain Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar is moving into the former Macaroni Grill space at 401 NE Northgate Way. The menu features several gluten-free items.

Skillet founder Josh Henderson announced plans to open restaurant Westward on north Lake Union. He's also launching oyster bar and specialty market Little Gull Grocery next door. Both establishments should start serving customers early this summer.

ASIAN/SE ASIAN

Mai Thaiku and apothecary bar Fu Kun Wu opened in a new location in Phinney Ridge at 6705 Greenwood Ave. N. Weekend lunch and happy hour will begin next week.

Showa at 701 N. 36th St. in Fremont closes this weekend. Owners Taichi Kitamura and Steve Tamura will continue to operate Sushi Kappo Tamura in Eastlake.

COFFEE

Capitol Hill's Porchlight Coffee moved into new digs at 1318 E Pike St. around the corner from its original shop. A new seven-story building will be constructed at the cafe's former space.

ITALIAN

After 12 years of business, family-owned Casa D'Italia at 2615 NE 65th St. closed its doors February 16.

WATERING HOLES

After almost four decades, the venerable Alki Tavern at 1321 Harbor Ave. SW is closing on St. Patty's Day to--you guessed it--make room for condos.

Bluebird opened a nanobrewery inside its Capitol Hill ice cream shop this month at 1205 E. Pike St. The business also brews beer at its Phinney Ridge location.

Columbia City gained a new bar this month. Hummingbird Saloon opened its doors at 5041 Rainier Ave. S. next to ice cream shop Full Tilt. Both establishments are owned by Ken Anderson.

After 25 years in its former location on Pine St., Von's 1000SPIRITS GustoBistro opened in brand new digs on Harbor Steps at 1225 1st Ave.

Bavarian bier hall Von Trapp's opened at 912 12th Ave. The space features three bars and five bocce courts.
