When GrubStreet posted on the rise of FroYo back in aught-nine, Red Mango was a hot ticket. But these days, the Dallas-based chain is downsizing. Red Mango recently closed two downtown Seattle stores 1418 First Ave. and 405 Union St. Its popularity seemed to go south right around the time competitors, including Menchie's and Yogurtland, gave customers the ability to fill their own cups and add customized toppings. Now, Red Mango's Redmond location is jumping on the self-serve bandwagon. Its newly remodeled store at 16515 NE 74th St. is open for business. An official reopening featuring free frozen yogurt is scheduled for March 16 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In other news, cooking classes at the wildly popular Pantry at Delancey are posted through June. While "Cheese Making 101: Mozzarella and Her Stretched Curd Relatives" and "How To Be A Pie Ninja: Summer Berry Pies" are already spoken for, at last check space remained for "Malaysian Noodles with Kedai Makan" April 7 and 8 and "Badass Bartending at Home: Craft Cocktails" taught by Walrus and the Carpenter bartender Anna Wallace May 12. Check the full schedule over here.
