Until Slate opens one of these days, Seattle-area coffee geeks need a new cafe to get excited about. Here's something to go on: Sprudge reports that in early 2013, Olympia Coffee Roasting Company will open its third cafe (close to the Washington State Capitol building) at 2824 Capitol Blvd. Snagging 2013 Micro Roaster of the Year honors, OCR has a nice spread of single origins and Kalita Wave pour-overs that justify the drive south.
In other news, tomorrow Ballard Loft holds birthday festivities on the same day it opened for business back in 2008. To celebrate, the bar at 5105 Ballard Ave. NW will be slinging $5 pickled pony shots and mugs of Oly for $2.50. The Loft opens at 10 a.m. Sunday for the big Seahawks vs. Falcons game, with "Hawks Bombs" showing up on the drink menu all weekend.
