Shane Ryan completed his first dinner service as permanent head chef of Matt's in the Market at 94 Pike St. last Friday night. Before heading the kitchen at Matt's, Ryan helped open Ethan Stowell restaurants, including Staple and Fancy, and Joël Robuchon's Las Vegas-based The Mansion. Ryan had been filling the post of interim head chef at Matt's after the departure of Chester Gerl.
In other Matt's-related news, owner Dan Bugge is opening Radiator Whiskey after the new year. The cocktail bar will fill a former architecture firm across the hall from Matt's. Diners can expect meat-centric pub grub and drinkers can look forward to signature 2Bar Spirits house whiskey (but no designated VIP area, a press release promises. We're getting so sick of those in Seattle.)
Up north, Tim's Tavern at 602 B. 105th St. is hosting its first anniversary party tonight from noon to close. Free potluck-style eats will be served, alongside Jamesons and 20 ounce Guinness pours for five bucks.
