Under Construction: Peddler Brewing Company in Ballard.
In a city whose best hope for a decent slice of pie used to come from Whole Foods, it's been a good couple of years. Joining the ranks of High 5 and Pie, CHS reports that identical twin sisters Alyssa Lewis and Natalie Delucchi are opening Pie Bar at the former home of creperie Saley at 1361 E. Olive Way. No stranger to crusts, Lewis formerly owned Magnolia's Seattle Pie Company, which shuttered in 2012. Featuring a walk-up window, Pie Bar will serve sweet and savory slices and whole pies alongside cocktails like the appealingly/appallingly named "pietini." Expect a spring opening.
In other news, My Ballard reports that Peddler Brewing Company is almost ready to fill its first growler. Owners Haley Woods and David Keller are completing a build-out that began last summer at 1514 Leary Ave. NW in the former Maritime Pacific Brewing Company location. The duo have sunk their own cash into the project's construction costs thus far and are looking to Kickstarter for a final boost. With their first fundraising goal for tasting room accoutrements and a bike work station (how Pacific Northwest) met, Peddler launched a new campaign to cover final projects, including painting and cold room construction. The brewery is scheduled to open sometime this winter.
