After almost 15 years in business, Caffe Appassionato's Queen Anne location is closing Friday. The Queen Anne View reports that the coffee shop at 1417 Queen Anne Ave N. is shuttering due to failed attempts to reduce rising rent. The cafe will host a farewell celebration tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m.

In better news, Malaysian street food vendor Kedai Makan ("diner" in Indonesian) is teaming up with the owners of Capitol Hill's Montana to open a new venture in the current home of Tacos Gringos at 1510 Olive Way. Seattle Met reports that the popular farmers market stand plans to continue filling the bellies of imbibing night owls, much like its tortilla-slinging predecessor. Expect the space to open sometime in the middle of January.
