Beloved Belltown tiki dive the Lava Lounge will be under new ownership beginning December 1. In spite of rumors that the watering hole abruptly shuttered its doors, General Manager Sylvia Wiedemann confirms that, "the bar is not closing (thank goodness)."

Lava Lounge has been owned by Mike McAlpin, who also runs Mama's Mexican Kitchen, for the past 17 years. "It is now going to be in the hands of the owners of the Rabbit Hole, Jessica and Marcus," Wiedemann says. "So far all staff is staying. They will be doing slight modifications but those will not be implemented until February of next year."

In other news, El Camion owner Scott McGinnis is launching a restaurant in Ballard by year's end in the space formerly occupied by Zesto's and RoRo BBQ, My Ballard reports. The permanent location at 6416 15th Ave NW comes in addition El Camion food trucks in SODO, North Seattle, and Ballard. The new venture is named El Camion Adentro ("the truck inside") and will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A firm opening date is yet to be announced.
