Ethan Stowell's Rome-style restaurant and bar Rione XII is now open on Capitol Hill.
Presenting your CliffsNotes on August's restaurant news: First off, in Ballard, Reuben's Brews is now open at 1406 NW 53rd St. It features several rotating beers, as well as growlers to take your favorites home. Also, the owners of artisan pizzeria Delancey opened a cocktail bar called Essex door next door at 1421 N.W. 70th St.

On Beacon Hill, Tippe & Drague Alehouse is open at 3315 Beacon Ave. The bar features 16 taps on constant rotation, including a gluten-free option.

In Belltown, Rocco's is now up and running at 2228 2nd Ave. The pizzeria creates all of its menu in-house using local meats and organic greens. Gluten-free and vegan options are also available. Meanwhile, Fogo Brazilian Steakhouse at 101 Denny Way is now taking reservations for its "Rodizio," all-you-can cuts of beef, lamb, pork and poultry, slowly roasted in a rotating mesquite charcoal grill.

On Capitol Hill, Ethan Stowell's newest restaurant Rione XIII is open at 401 15th Ave. E.e. It specializes in simple Roman cooking, including fried artichokes, house-made mozzarella, and wood-fired pizza. Stowell isn't the big name adding businesses to the neighborhood. Seattle's "queen of nightlife" Linda Derschang is opening a new restaurant and bar called Bait Shop at 606 Broadway Ave. E. Other happenings: Chipotle is opening a street-level restaurant in the Harvard Market complex at 1401 Broadway Ave., while EVO Tapas Kitchen is closing after a mere three-month run. Broadcast Coffee is up and running on Bellevue Ave. Coming in 2013: Capitol Cider at 818 E. Pike St. The pub will feature 100 varieties of cider, 70 meads, and a gluten-free food menu.

Over in Madison Valley, New York Cupcakes at 2711 E. Madison St. is now closed. The bakery offered an explanation to a fan on Facebook, writing: "Madison Valley is a great neighborhood but not the one for us... We will be keeping our eye out for another possible location in or out of the city..." Fortunately for devotees, the Bellevue location is still up and running.

In Pioneer Square, Blind Pig Bistro cook Manuel Alfau is opening his own Caribbean sandwich shop at 100 Prefontaine Pl. S. in Pioneer Square. La Bodega will feature an awesome roast pork sandwich (obviously), as well as dishes from from Alfau's native country the Dominican Republican. The business is currently under construction.

In Queen Anne, Grub is now open at 7 Boston St. The American fusion restaurant draws inspiration from Asian, French, and Spanish cuisine to make dishes featuring local sustainable ingredients. Meanwhile, The Tin Lizzie Lounge, which specializes in handcrafted cocktails, is up and running at the MarQueen Hotel in Queen Anne. Lastly, an opening date has yet to be announced, but Belltown Pizza is opening a second shop in the former Sorrentino Trattoria space at 2128 Queen Anne Ave. N.

Rainier Valley residents, good news -- well, sort of. Beloved neighborhood restaurant the Silver Fork has announced plans to stay at its current location at 3800 Rainier Ave. S. until April 2013. The closure is due to Safeway building a new gas station in the space.

In South Lake Union, So-Cal based vegan chain The Veggie Grill opened its first Seattle location at 446 Terry Ave. N. (Another location is planned for University Village this fall.) The popular eatery features a plant-based menu of American comfort food (think Vegan fast food) including burgers, mac-n-cheese, and wings. For authentic Italian dessert, La Toscanella Bakery & Paninoteca is now open at 116 Westlake Ave. N., serving biscotti, and cannoli.

Lastly, over on the Eastside: Bellevue Brewing is scheduled to debut at 1820 130th Ave. N.E. on October 1. The 12,000 square foot space will seat 250, as well as offer private rooms for special events. The owners must be confident it will be successful -- a second undisclosed location of Bellevue Brewing is already in the works.
