The Deal: It's not much of a discount, nor is it the most exciting happy hour in town, but Tat's does offer $1 off of their small selection of domestic beers and microbrews beginning at 3 p.m. every day. What makes it exciting is that it's uniquely situated to be a great meeting place on the way to a sporting event. Meet friends, drink beers, and pick up a tasty Tat'strami or cheesesteak sandwich for the game.
The Digs: Tat's sandwiches have long been famous for house-smoked meats and interesting takes on East Coast classics, but after a move just over a year ago, Tat's has a new location that makes eating (or drinking) More enticing opportunity. In the corner of an old Pioneer Square building, the décor is a mix of local and Philadelphia sports paraphernalia on the walls. Big windows face onto Yesler Way in the front, while booths line the western wall. It's not fancy, but it's a more than pleasant enough a place.
The Verdict: Unless your craving for a post-work sandwich is insatiable, Tat's is unlikely to become your go-to watering hole, with their weak happy hour deals. Yet, if you've got evening business in Pioneer Square or the adjacent stadiums, a few beers on sale while gathering up your group make for a good option, as well as the opportunity for everyone to pick up one of the best sandwiches in the city. And maybe a Tastykake for the road.
