Seattle's Fried Chicken and Ice Cream Get National Nods, and More Food News

Esquire gave Seattle two notable nods last week. The first came in the form of the honor, "most life-changing fried-chicken joint in America," awarded to Ezell's Famous Chicken. Interestingly, Esquire credits Ezell Stephens, despite him no longer being with the company (Stephens now runs Heaven Sent, which is no slouch either). The selection also struck some as a surprise in a category normally dominated by the chicken-frying giants of the South. Of course, we could've seen it coming.

The second mention featured Bisato's smoky martini variation, the Condor, as the Cocktail of the Week.

Mora Iced Creamery has also received national appreciation, appearing on Food & Wine's "Best Ice Cream Spots in the U.S." list (it's one of our favorites, too). The Swiss Chocolate flavor was dubbed the "signature item." Molly Moon's also made the list.

The owners of Marination have announced that construction has begun on their new restaurant and bar at Alki's Seacrest Boathouse. West Seattle Blog reports (via Marination's Facebook page) the inclusion of a full bar, extensive beer collection, early barista, and the announcement of a name--"Ma Kai," which means "to the sea" in Hawaiian.
