Barrio Promises Tequila for Voracious Tasting

Barrio's bar director Casey Robison hasn't yet decided what he'll be serving at the Voracious Tasting on April 5, but he's selected the base spirit.

"I can say for certain that I will be doing a punch, and it will absolutely have tequila in it," Robison says.

Robison is one of 10 local bartenders slated to mix drinks for the event at the Paramount Theater. Guests will have the opportunity to sample cocktails from Ba Bar, Bastille, Knee High Stocking Company, Liberty, Local 360, Rob Roy, Sun Liquor, Tavern Law and Triple Door. A pair of cideries will also be pouring alcoholic beverages.

The punch that Robison invented for last year's Voracious Tasting was so popular that the recipe outlasted the event.

"It was called Poncho's Pimp Smackin' Punch," Robison recalls. "It was silver tequila, Aperol, yellow chartreuse, lime, agave, and angostura bitters. I liked it so much, that we put it on the menu last summer."

Interested drinkers who want to try Robison's vintage 2012 punch may have to hope it follows a similar trajectory. Voracious Tasting tickets are sold out.
