Wing Dome Sticks to What Americans Know Best: Deep-Fried and Delicious

Fried pickle chips? Yes, please!
The Place: Wing Dome, 232 Central Way, 425-822-9464, KIRKLAND.

The Hours: Mon.-Fri. 3-6 p.m.

The Digs: Wing Dome's motto -- Hot Wings, Cold Brew, Big Fun -- says it all. This is not a first-date destination, but a place you pig out with your bros or take your significant other once your relationship reaches the "comfortable" phase. Men outnumber women 5:1 and there is always a game on the television.

The Deal: The food is not for the faint of heart: Half-price appetizers (which come out to $3.50 and under) including fried pickles, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and popcorn chicken, along with $2.25 beer and $3.19 wells to wash down all the greasy goodness. Carrot and celery sticks also make an appearance on the appetizer menu, but who wants to eat raw vegetables during happy hour?

The Verdict: Granted, Wing Dome is best known for its hot wings, but its appetizers are just as satisfying. (When it comes to grub that goes well with a pitcher, anything deep-fried and delicious does the trick, anyway.) Everyone has experienced the workday from hell after which they want to slump on a couch with one hand glued to a beer, the other to a family-size bag of chips. Happy hour at Wing Dome is just as affordable, but far less depressing.
