Rachel's Ginger Beer + Bourbon = One Smart Cocktail

This handcrafted ginger beer makes a right fine mixer.
Rachel Marshall's handcrafted ginger beer is mighty fine straight up, but boy howdy, does it make for a refreshing drink when paired with brown liquor. This cocktail is named after the slick lemon juicer that helps take the sting out of this hands-on, artisan process.

Michelle Madigow of Lark/Licorous helped Rachel create this drink, inspired by the impending arrival of fall.

Of course, we can think of other autumnal applications for this snappy soda, its hot, sassy punch making the perfect complement to sweet potatoes. But it's still too early to start planning any Thanksgiving dinner.

Instead, let's slip into something as refreshing as a cool breeze on Derby Day. You can read more about Rachel's thirst to set up this bubbly business in part one of this week's Grillaxin Q&A.
