New Strip Club Slated for Seven Seas Space

Rick's, the Colacurcio family's notorious Lake City Way strip club , is about to hit the auction block. But fear not, Lake Citians: There's soon to be a new temple of Cherry Coke and blue balls about a mile north, where a proprietor named Jack Johnson has secured permits to install a strip club in the space currently occupied by the Seven Seas, a charming dive which was named "Best Chinese Lounge Interior" in our 2009 Best of Seattle (TM) issue.

"I found out yesterday when one of my friends went to the Seven Seas Restaurant and the doors were closed," Marilee Catero, a resident nearby the proposed strip club, tells the Wedgwood View. "She asked what was up and they told her they lost the lease and a strip club was now renting the space."

On the one hand, the Lake City/Maple Leaf area is losing a fantastic bar. On the other hand, strip clubs aren't permitted to serve alcohol, which might give the once-great Shanty Tavern incentive to open its doors more than once or twice per week as a place for neighboring patrons to get wet before they try to coax a similar reaction out of the girls next door.

But if we can all agree on one thing, it's that the new club should leave the Seas' award-winning wall decor intact. It features a ton of Marilyn Monroe portraits, and nobody's a better role model for the young nubiles than Norma Jean.
