5 Awesome Cinco de Mayo Tequila Drinks

Is it filled with booze, or candy? You go ahead and whack first....we've got your back.
Everyone celebrates Cinco de Mayo in different ways, but most of them involve drinking (heavily). Start with a bucket of Tequila, chips and salsa, and some mariachi music. Add a pinata, a blindfold and a stick and you've got at least three hours of fun before someone has to go to the hospital. This year, however you celebrate, take these tasty, Tequila based cocktails and shots into consideration.

Cadillac Margarita

If you're going to have a margarita, why bother having anything less than the best? Go with the Cadillac Margarita, which has all the traditional ingredients plus a floated shot of Grand Marnier and a squeeze of orange juice. We hear Maya's on Rainer Ave. makes a killer one that hits the spot on a hot summer night.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz Tequila

3 oz Sweet and sour

3/4 oz Triple sec

3/4 oz Lime juice

Float Grand Marnier

Giraffe

Don't be fooled by the friendly name, this is not some Shirley Temple spritzer you order for your kids to shut them up for five minutes. The giraffe is a pretty pure drink: just the tequila and a compliment of grapefruit juice.

Ingredients:

Tequila 1.5oz

Grapefruit juice 3oz

Ice

Mezcal

The sister of traditional Tequila (a blue agave mezcal), Mezcal is distilled alcohol from maguey,a form of agave. It's richer, smokier and bolder in flavor...kind of like that semi-creepy Dos Equis guy, "The Most Interesting Man in the World."

Drink instructions? Pour in a shot glass, grab some salt and an orange slice, and say the following toast: "Pa'rriba, pa'bajo, al centro y pa┬┤dentro", (up, down, center and in)

then lick, drink, suck and scream!

Matador

If you toss enough matadors down the hatch, do you grow a pair and jump in the bull pit? There's only one way to find out....The Matador pairs a silver or blanco tequila with pineapple and lime juice, and serve it over ice or combine with something bubbly.

The Matador cocktail is perfect for a Cinco de Mayo girls' night out, if only it was served by a hot Spaniard in tights.

The Che Guevara

This powerful little shot has all the hard core makings of a flavor revolution: cinnamon, licorice and of course Tequila. The Che Guevara has a very specific method to its madness, first pour in Tequila, then Jagermeister. Top off with Goldschlager. After the third shot, we're guessing it doesn't really matter what order you pour them in, you could probably even skip the glass.

Ingredients:

1 part Goldschlager

1 part Tequila

1 part Jagermeister

There's also a cocktail called The Che Guevara with two kinds of Bacardi instead of Tequila, for every day besides Cinco de Mayo:
