Chef Jason Stratton is very happy about the expansion of Spinasse and the addition of Artusi, the aperitivo bar next door.
Diners love Spinasse's intimate dining room, each seat offering a view into Jason Stratton's kitchen. Soon there will be more to love, as the restaurant's expansion plans are on track. The mid-May target opening date is looking solid. (Check the jump for a video tour.)

The expanded space, just to the north, will be connected to the original room with the popular dining bar busting through the wall like a big arm offering a welcome embrace. During the renovation, the crew made a happy discovery.

"We pulled up this shiny laminate that was like a gym floor, and found the same wood floor that's in Spinasse," Stratton said.

The other great news, especially for those lucky ducks living in the neighborhood: The initial expansion grew to include a bar space. Artusi looks like the perfect-o place to hang and drink and snack. A real aperitivo bar, where Stratton will stretch beyond the cuisine of Piedmont that's the focus of Spinasse.
