2011 Food & Wine Classic in Aspen: Tickets on Sale Now (For Just $1000)"/>
Thanks to Eater.com for reminding me that tickets are now on sale for the biggest, craziest, foodiest and most expensive festivals on the calendar--the annual Food & Wine Classic, being held June 17,18 and 19 in Aspen, Colorado. On hand this year will be the traditional clutter of food-world celebrities (Jose Andres doing "Sexy Vegetable Dishes," Bobby Flay making brunch, John Besh talking about the new New Orleans, Tim Love teaching a grilling master class and Mario Batali talking about the seafood of the Adriatic), the traditional clutter of those looking to get some face-time with their favorite food-world celebrities, and then all those people who are really just there for the food.
So what will it cost you to go and spend three days dining among the stars?
Well, not counting the airfare, not counting the hotel bills, not counting what you may ultimately end up spending on securing a bail bond after getting into that drinking contest with Batali at the St. Regis Hotel bar, you're looking at a tab of $1,085 for entry into all events, tastings and parties.
With the exception of the VIP parties, of course. And the Welcome Reception. And the Best New Chef dinner. And the VIP suite at the St. Regis.
But still, that $1,085 ($1,185 after March 15) will get you a lot. There'll be classes and seminars and tastings and all sorts of events that you can attend provided you can come up with the green. So if you're interested, it might be a good idea to start clearing your schedule now. After all, Mario Batali ain't gonna drink all that tequila alone...
