A high-end vegetarian restaurant is set to open in Rainier Square at 1333 5th Avenue by early spring, according to The Seattle Times. Kailash will be a collaboration between cookbook author Greg Atkinson and Liquid Lounge consultant Kathy Casey, featuring an edible garden and dishes like duck eggs and artisan cheese.

If Japanese food is more your style, Fremont Universe reports that Taichi Kitamura - who formerly owned Kappo - is opening an izakaya called Showa at 701 North 36th Street on Friday, November 5. Expect small plates averaging about $5 each.

In other news, Seattle Met reports that a new mobile food truck called Lick is soon hitting the streets. Flavors will be inspired by Asian, Caribbean, and soul cuisine.

Lastly, a few more mentions: Queen Anne View shares that local chain Homegrown is now serving sustainable sandwiches at its new location at 2201 Queen Anne Avenue North. And PhinneyWood.com notes that the Oroweat Bakery Outlet at 7009 Greenwood Avenue North is closing December 31. But you'll still be able to buy discounted bread at the Northgate location.
