Beer, Wine and Local Boys Done Good

Blake Lewis and Mateo Messina.
On a recent visit to SLU's Re:public, folks were surprised by the treat of a somewhat impromptu concert by Grammy Award-winning composer (ever hear of that one movie "Juno"?) and local boy Mateo Messina and American Idol finalist (and local boy) Blake Lewis.

Turns out these two have teamed up to help some kids in need and are paying visits to some of Seattle's favorite eating and drinking spots to spread the word about the upcoming Primal Symphony - Messina's 13th annual benefit concert for Seattle Children's Hospital.

Also joining Messina in his quest to help kids are the Georgetown Brewing Co., the Red Door, Efeste Winery and the band (and local boys) Barcelona.

Since when did raising money for a good cause get to be so much fun? Knowing Voracious readers won't want to miss out on any of the action - here's the details:

Wednesday, Oct. 6, 7pm, Red Door: Celebrate the release of Georgetown Brewing Co.'s Lucille IPA at a party benefiting Seattle Children's Hospital. Those who purchase tickets, which start at only $40, to Primal Symphony before this time are invited to a private pre-party from 6-7pm to meet the brewers, sample from a special Lucille cask, munch on appetizers, and win cool stuff. And maybe even challenge Lewis to a beatbox-off.

Friday, Oct. 8, 6:30pm, Efeste Winery: Enjoy an evening of wine tasting - be sure to taste the "Final Final", gourmet wood-fired pizza (do not put your face near the oven - trust me), and music by Barcelona at Efeste's gorgeous Woodinville tasting room. Tickets are $25 (advance) and proceeds also go to Seattle Children's Hospital.

Hope to see you out there eating, drinking, listening and - most of all - helping!
