Saturday Night's All Right for a Fight: Women's Lube Wrestling at the Kangaroo & Kiwi"/>
Okay, so I'm a former frat guy, and the fact that I'm judging a lube wrestling competition Saturday night ("You're my boy, Blue!) at the Kangaroo & Kiwi, a sorta-fratty Aussie bar across Aurora from sorta-fratty Greenlake, might cause all but the most hard-core frat lovers out there to head for Duck Island (the actual island, not the eponymous saloon adjacent to Beth's Cafe, which is next door to the K&K).
But bro, you'd be so wrong if that's how you've got this event pegged. Turns out the wrestlers are members of the Emerald City Mudhens, a first-division women's rugby team that kicks ass far and wide. The event, which starts at 9 p.m. (doors at 7), has a $20 admission fee, which might seem unbearably steep until you consider that every penny will benefit a worthy cause: the Mudhens themselves, who are in need of dough to travel to Arizona for nationals in the fall.
So help send our girls south by bucking up, getting hammered, and watching some very tone wrestlers slosh around in a pool of KY. One lucky lady or gentleman will even have the chance to wrestle the Mudhen of their choice through a live auction. That doesn't sound too rough, does it?
