I know that we here in the U.S. of A. have seen some pretty good, pretty legendary commercials in our time. There's the Johnson for President "Daisy" commercial from 1964 (still kinda creepy after all these years), the "This is your brain on drugs" PSA from 1987, that "Where's the beef?" lady and the famous "1984" ad for Apple (directed by Ridley Fucking Scott of all people) which actually ran during the Superbowl in 1984. American admen? They got some game, is what I'm saying.
But the Japanese... They, as so often happens, just take things to a whole different level. Where we have those annoying as hell Budweiser frogs, they have this: a kind of vertical time-trip through the entire mythological history/production of Sapporo beer, complete with dragons, geishas and giant sumo wrestlers. It's less a commercial than a short film, and I kinda want to watch another couple hours of it just because it is so amazing. I don't even care that they're trying to sell me beer. I mean, I'm gonna buy the beer anyway, but the commercial is just that cool.
