While doing some Easter candy research at the Morgan St. Thriftway in West Seattle the other day, I ran across this candy bar from Lillie Belle Farms at the checkout stand. The chocolate is filled with Ghost Chili, some Aji amarillos and Arbol. There is HEAT!
"There is no reason for this bar to exist," the back of the wrapper reads. It also lists pain as an ingredient, along with organic dark and milk chocolate. What does it taste like? Let me tell you.
The chocolate is really good, which helps with the consumption of this thing. You don't want to take more than a small square chunk off the chocolate block, especially if it's your first taste. The spice is strong, but it's not going to hurt. It's more like you put a little too many red pepper flakes on your slice of pizza. The heat stays in your mouth for awhile, that's for sure, but it dissipates rather quickly.
It might not be an ideal Easter candy, but it's perfect for those of us who like the searing heat of chilies in our chocolate.
