People's Choice: The top beers, as voted by shivering revelers, at the Washington Beer Commission's Winter Beer Fest this weekend: 3rd place - Mocha Death by Iron Horse of Ellensberg, 2nd place - Hoppy the Woodsman by the south end's Schooner Exact, and 1st place went to La Petit Mort by Redmond's Black Raven. Look for a full winter beer round up later in the week.
Sierra Nevada Still Rules: Roxanne Webber has an excellent article on CHOW.com about Sierra Nevada trying to reclaim its cred. To those of us in the business, IT NEVER LOST IT. But as the market for microbrews gets flooded with the smaller and more esoteric, the indie music mentality has taken over. Buddha bellied beer nerds behaving like skinny-jeaned hipsters? Sierra Nevada too big and popular to be cool? Balderdash.
Brouwer's Cafe still has wooded beers a plenty on tap (probably because of Winter Beer Fest). Baby it's cold outside, cold enough for a two hour lunch. Just say your car wouldn't start. Read it & go drink.
