Holiday Shopping: New Cookbooks From Local Restaurants

This week, I posted a list of Seattle food writers who released holiday-present-worthy books in 2009. Three local restaurants came out with cookbooks this year, too:

Julie Reinhardt, co-owner of Smokin' Pete's BBQ in Ballard, authored She-Smoke: A Backyard Barbecue Book (Seal Press). Sample recipes: grilled South Carolina mustard thighs, mom's biscuits.

Sasquatch recently published the Flying Apron's Gluten-Free & Vegan Baking Book by Jennifer Katzinger, owner of the Fremont bakery. Sample recipes: honey saffron shortbread, coconut heaven cake.

And 10 Speed Press just released The Grand Central Baking Book, written by Piper Davis (daughter of founder Gwenyth Bassetti) and Ellen Jackson. Sample recipes: almond anise biscotti, the bakery cinnamon rolls.

For more local restaurant cookbooks, look over the author list from Tom Douglas's recent cookbook social.
