Carmelita Hosts an Animale Winery Dinner

Carmelita, that well-loved vegetarian restaurant, hosts a four-course wine dinner with Ballard winemaker Matt Gubitosa from Animale wines.

Dinner starts with a goat cheese and Meyer lemon mini-tart, a smoky chestnut mushroom soup, and a Brie-topped arugula salad. The main course: purple potato gnocchi and spinach in a garlicky cream sauce. Each course will be paired with an Animale wine from 2007, beginning with a chardonnay, moving to reds (cabernet and petite syrah), and finishing with a syrah at dessert: a chocolate crepe flavored with anise, pink salt, almonds, and huckleberries.
