Earshot Jazz Festival, and that reminded me of the only Starbucks I will consistently frequent, the store on the northeast corner of 23rd & Jackson.

On every available wall hang one or two stunning photos from the time before WWII when this area used to play host to one of the most vibrant jazz and blues scenes in the country, Ray Charles and Quincy Jones being a part of it all.

It's one of the few places in the Central District honoring those clubs, which sprang up due to the segregation policies of the downtown Seattle venues. Give in to a caramel macchiato--just this once--and make sure to gaze at every single photograph.
