The Scorecard: Restaurant Closures in July

As the recession appears to be slowing, restaurant closures in Seattle appear to be following suit. We lost a couple of big players -- two national restaurant chains shut down local branches, and the Organic to Go sandwich chain closed a couple of its downtown locations. Here's the list of restaurants that Voracious reported had shuttered this month:

Ama-Ama

Via Verde

Todai Redmond

Saito's

Oceanaire

Pies By Jenny (farmers-market stand)

Cafe Stellina

Organic to Go locations on 3rd and 4th Aves.

Up for sale but not closed: Siam Pura and GreenGo

However, that's 9 closures compared to 19 openings, four of which were new locations for established restaurants and one of which (Piroshky Piroshky) was a reopening; that number also doesn't include Ballard's three new sweet shops/convenience markets. Full list of openings after the jump, with a few more to come in the coming weeks.

Fonte Coffee & Wine Bar

Rizzo's French Dip

Fremont Brewing

Seattle Pie

Little Red Bistro

Piroshky Piroshky

Plum

Full Tilt Columbia City

Parfait (ice cream truck)

I Love New York in the U District

Skillet walk-up window

Bastille

Bathtub Gin

Guajillo's

Copper Cart Cafe

Cupcake Royale Cap Hill

La Mondellina

Nookie's Cookies

Meza
