Monday Morning Announcements: Tour de Fat and Pour on the Plaza This Saturday

Two Wheels Good, Four Wheels Bad New Belgium Brewing Company's tribute to the bicycle, the 10th annual Tour de Fat, brings together two-wheelers and beer lovers in a quirky, hard to describe festival/concert/gathering. The aim of the festival is to promote bicycle use, and one lucky (?) entrant will get to trade his or her car for a brand new custom built bike (apply HERE). Of course, there's plenty of Fat Tire on tap and musical entertainment provided by soul funk outfit The Pimps of Joytime among others. I recommend you go if only to see Nanda, a sometimes boylesque leaning, always captivating, acrobatic troupe out of Portland that will blow you away. (Tour de Fat, Saturday, Aug. 8th, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Gasworks Park.)

Mini Taste of Bellevue With Maximum Washington Wines Along with restaurant partners The Melting Pot, Wild Ginger (opening in Bellevue next month), and Grand Cru Wine Bar & Shop, El Gaucho Bellevue will host an afternoon tasting of wines from some of Washington's premiere wineries, called " target="_blank">Pour on the Plaza. Andrew Will, DeLille, Dunham, and Woodward Canyon are among the top notch wineries pouring, with a full tasting round up of all the wines available online. Plenty of potted palms and live jazz set the scene in a plaza surrounded by a gaggle of skyscrapers that seem to be developing like sea monkeys over there. (Pour on the Plaza, Saturday, August 8th, 2:00-5:00 p.m., City Center Plaza, 450 108th N.E., Bellevue, $95 per person. For reservations, call 425-455-2715.)
