A weekly blog feature in which we walk into a bar and ask the bartender to make us his or her favorite drink.

The locale: Tiger Lounge, at 412 Orcas St. in Georgetown. It's only been open for three weeks, but I definitely recommend checking it out, not only for the kitschy retro decor, but because they've got sizable front and back patios for optimum sunshine enjoyment.

The bartender: Kristyana, who'd prefer we not give her last name. She just moved here for this job from Port Townsend, but has been serving for five years. My unfortunately blurry photo does not do her justice.

The drink: A Brooklyn. It's like a Manhattan, but made with Irish whiskey-- Kristyana uses Jameson-- with a dash of amaretto instead of sweet vermouth, and no bitters.

When I initially ask Kristyana to make me her favorite drink, she hesitates.

Should I make you a drink that's a good drink for this bar, or my favorite drink? I'm more of a whiskey drinker.

Me too.

Then you'll like this. It's called a Brooklyn. It's like a Manhattan, but with Irish whiskey. I love Irish whiskey.

I've never heard of this drink before. But it's really smooth. Smoother than a regular Manhattan, actually. If I go into any bar and ask for it, will they know what I'm talking about?
