Tried and True for Cinco de Mayo

What better way to celebrate the waning panic of the Mexican swine flu than with a fictional Mexican boozing holiday. If your idea is the standard Ameri-Mexi experience, try El Sombrero Restaurant in Columbia City (4868 Rainier Ave. S.), where the margaritas come strong and in giant glass goblets.

Neighborhood favoriteEl Gallito near Madison Valley (1700 20th Ave., off Madison) gets points for authenticity and warm tortilla chips. I can vouch for the pint-sized margaritas at El Chupacabra in Phinney Ridge (6711 Greenwood Ave N.), but never got around to the food.

The Saint on Capitol Hill (1416 E. Olive Way) has happy hour from 5:00-7:00pm, with $3 Wells and five different $5 cocktails, including the Hermano house margarita with lemon and lime.
