I think you could get away with calling this the second incarnation of Fat Tuesday...
Firkin-Firkin at Elysian Capitol Hill: Besides being my favorite event to say, this event will surely be a highlight of the week. (A firkin is the English term for a quarter barrel.) California and a Washington beers face off in eight different style match ups. Boundary Bay and Pizza Port Carlsbad hold an Imperial I.P.A. smack down. Silver City and Bear Republic face off with Scotch ale, and Russian River, Snoqualmie, Elysian (of course), Stone and Russian River round out the undercard. 6 tokens and a glass cost you $12, and the pours measure three ounces. More tokens cost $1.25 each. (Elysian Capitol Hill, 1200 Pike St., 3:00pm)
Collabeeration Night at Beveridge Place: Go if only because they'll have the Allagash/De Prouef "Les Deux Brasseurs" on tap; this beer is one of my top five of the last year, by a country kilometer. The pub will also pour a joint effort from Big Al, Snipes and Baron as well as the Avery and Russian River "Collaboration Not Litigation," and a few more. In bottle, I'm excited to sample the Stone, Nogne O and Jolly Pumpkin Holiday Ale because I love me those crazy bastards out of Dexter, MI. (Beveridge Place Pub, 6413 California Ave. S.W., 6:00pm)
Ninkasi & Vinyl at Skylark: Jamie Floyd, head brewer of Eugene, Oregon's Ninkasi Brewing, will be pouring his beers and playing records, and you're encouraged to bring your own! (Skylark Cafe, 3803 Delridge Way S.W., 6:00pm to midnight)
Top tastings today: Meet the Von Boorians, a set of five Elliott Bay Brewery brews, from pale ale to barleywine (4720 California Ave. S.W., 4:00pm-10:30pm). Try North Coast Brewing beers at Bottleworks (1710 N. 45th St., 5:00-7:00pm), and taste through Trade Route brews at Full Throttle Bottles (5909 Airport Way S., 5:00-7:00pm).
It's also Big Al Brewing night at the Latona Pub. North side, meet some of the best of the south side (Latona Pub, 6423 Latona Ave. N.E., 6:00-9:00pm)
