Upcoming Tastings: Small Washington, Hot Piedmont, Affordable France

Tomorrow, March 5th, Vino Verite (208 Boylston Ave. E.) gives you mucho wine bang for your...well, hell it's free. Try a smattering of affordable Rhone and Burgundy wines, more than half $15 and under, but all attractively priced.

Picnic (6801 Greenwood Ave. N.) will host three tastings this weekend in honor of Washington Wine Month. Thursday March 5th, 5:30-7:30pm, brings an assortment of winesm, including O'Reilly whites, hosted by sommelier Brian Huse. Taste new releases from O'Shea/Scarborough on Friday March 6th, 5:30-7:30pm; and Darren Williams of the Small Lot Co-op will pour Saturday, March 7th, from 3:00-5:00pm. All tastings cost $8, with pours of all the wines and coordinating appetizers.

McCarthy & Schiering hosts Luca Currado of Piedmont's Vietti winery, 11:30am-2:00pm at the Ravenna store(6500 Ravenna Ave. N.E.) and 2:30-5:00pm at the Queen Anne store (2401 Queen Anne Ave. N.). He is the maker of one of my perennial favorites, a $20ish Nebbiolo that pisses on any pinot noir near the price.
