Restaurant Closures for February (and Early March)

This month, the Washington Restaurant Association reported that from January 2008 to January 2009, the state's restaurant industry lost 6,900 jobs, or 3.4 percent of the workforce. Bad news. When I was compiling this list of the restaurants that have closed in the past 6 weeks, though -- launching a new monthly feature on Voracious -- I was struck by two things:

Seattle has lost far fewer restaurants than San Francisco or Houston. And I continue to see new restaurants appearing -- my list of restaurants to consider reviewing has not shrunk in the least.

Here, however, is the list of restaurant closures that we've noted for February and the past week:

Permanent

Baja Fresh in Fremont

Madame K's announced that it will be closing in the next few weeks

Moxie

Trattoria Michelli (just reported in the Seattle Global Food Examiner)

Pontevecchio

Uncle Mo's

Temporary (We Hope)

Perche' No (fire)

Artemis (reconfiguring, set to reopen in May)

Hooverville (fire)

Any other restaurants you know of?
