Opening: Anchovies & Olives, Long"/>
Ethan Stowell's Anchovies & Olives will finally open this Friday (*pending final inspection). Get your crudo on, and make sure to sample the following whites by the glass: 1.) the heady and perfumed Elena Walch Gewurztraminer, best bet with salmon 2.) the Casa Ibidini Inzolia from Sicily, a white wine that could not embody the island's best exports (capers, almonds and olive oil) more...in a goooood way. Assuming the wine list is the same as the one I got to peep at, that is. The list is over 60% Italian white. Italian whites rule, Frenchies drool. The only question remains: ampersand, or no?
I am as happy as a little girl to report that Tamarind Tree's second restaurant, Long (pronounce the vowel like "ow"), opens Monday at 1901 2nd Avenue (the old Qube space). Yes, I will gladly trek to the I.D. for their long list of affordable, richly spiced Vietnamese fare, but I am also aware that many will not, as Seattle is such a hamlet of habits. Seeing as I just realized that I can almost see this place from my house...well, you know where to find me Monday night. Hopefully tucking in to a bowl of black sesame ice cream. Mmmm, sesame.
