Yelping, Pain, and Other Food News

A couple of news stories from around the Internet:

There's an interesting Yelp backlash developing in the news right now. David Lazarus at the LA Times and Kathleen Richards at the East Bay Express both have features about Yelp's advertising policies, which are being questioned by a number of business owners, both those who have advertised and those who have declined to do so. I posted a link to Lazarus's piece on my Twitter feed (@jonkauffman, if you're so inclined), and within days Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman sent me a link to his response to Lazarus's piece.

The Pleasure Is in the Pain by Andreas Viestad (Washington Post): Oh, that chile high. People do love to talk about it.

Killing the Fish That Lays the Golden Egg by Barry Eastabrook (Gourmet): A new technique for removing osetra caviar from sturgeon without killing the mother fish promises hope for the species.
